SHIKISHI NAISHINNŌ: Taenaba taene - ZaunköniG - 19.10.2017

SHIKISHI NAISHINNŌ
ca. 1149(?)–1201(?) Japan

玉の緒よ たえなばたえね ながらへば
忍ぶることの 弱りもぞする

Tama no o yo
Taenaba taene
Nagaraeba
Shinoburu koto no
Yowari mo zo suru.

THE ailments of advancing years
Though I should try to hide,
Some day the thread will break, the pearls
Be scattered far and wide;
Age cannot be defied.

Die Leiden kommen,
auch wenn ich es verdränge.
Einmal reißt die Schnur
und verstreut ihre Perlen.
Niemand trotzt seinem Alter.
