My snowman dropped his nose and eyes, dear me
how can I comfort him and dry his tears
when I don’t share his grief and dripping fears
of dying soon in springtime misery.
His mourning will run out and he will be
just water in the nearby creek that steers
last chunks of ice away, good riddance, cheers
and auld lang syne to him, now he is free.
I put some flowers on his unmarked grave
to stop him haunting `till next december
the ground where he fell, the last Winter Brave.
I`ll take his belongings and will remember
with awe his last fight, and hope it`s now safe
to pick up his eyes, black winter ember.
