Then all around I hear the birds in song
Last night came loud with wind and rain
I wonder how many of the flowers are gone

Schon hörte man den frohen Finkenschlag,
Doch Wetter tobten die vergangne Nacht,
dass manche Blüte schon am Boden lag.
